There are many activities that can be carried out with your horse in order to build up trust between yourself and the animal and to improve your own riding skills. Providing fun horse games for girls to take part in will improve their balance when on the horse. This is particularly important if they are new to riding as they may be nervous at first, this will not be good for their confidence. For example, you may try riding whilst balancing an egg on a spoon, although this sounds like a relatively simplistic method it can really help you to gain the right posture and be able to position yourself correctly while sitting on the horse. It does not have to be this particular item, it could be anything that requires you to maintain a level balance; a cup of liquid, half full, is another good idea as you will need to be able to retain the liquid inside the cup. The trainer can turn this into a competition between many different girls, with the last one to keep their egg winning.
If the focus is to on the speed you can use a barrel race. Simply place a barrel at the opposite end of the arena and the quickest girl to ride around it and return to their starting position wins.
More advanced horse games for girls is to get two riders to carry opposite ends of a ribbon. Get them to perform different manoeuvres while they both still hold on to their end of the ribbon. This calls for them to be synchronised and is for when they both have developed their riding skills to an advanced level. As soon as one of them drops their end of the ribbon, the last remaining player is the winner.
Advanced riders may also like to try riding bareback. This requires them to have an in depth knowledge of horse riding, performing the same games while riding bareback gives an additional element for them to compete against. The aim of any of these games is to get the rider used to the horse and to feel more confident when riding. This will minimise any unnecessary mistakes and lead to a safer environment for horse and rider.
